Distractions — The killer of productivity
Few are the people who are capable of working on a single task for extended periods without getting distracted.
In fact, most people I know- have stopped trying to improve that pillar in themselves. They’ve given up hope on the matter of productivity.
Nonetheless, you may also turn your head into cheap entertainment when bored. Hence your attention span is lower than what it would’ve been if you started to focus.

Why you don’t want to work

You have habitually jumped from one task to another by using social media. So, how does it work?
When scrolling on social media, your mind seeks the next dopamine hit. It’ll do anything to feel that rush again.

Then, when you sit down to work, do you think your mind will be capable of focusing or rather aiming its undivided attention towards working, a low-stimulus action?

No way.

You don’t want to work because your mind is looking for the next dopamine hit. But, like drug addicts, we can’t live without our phones.

Thus far, I’ve been negative and rather pessimistic. So, let’s stop with the negative thoughts and move on to the next part of this story; how to improve productivity.

Are you someone who has a hard time focusing? Do you often find your attention drifting away or do you have a habit of forgetting what someone has just told you? Has anyone ever told you that you’re nice but can’t pay attention? If so, this book on why you can’t pay attention is for you. Almost everyone struggles with focus and attention at some point or another. The ability to pay attention is something that we take for granted until we start to notice how little of the world around us that we actually see, hear, smell, taste, or feel in any given moment. Our senses are constantly bombarded with information from all around us at every moment of our day. But because so many things compete for our limited amount of attention all at once, most of it slips through our fingers and out of our minds without registering in much the same way that water from a stream flows over your hand and between your fingers as fast as it comes. So what does this mean for you and what are some ways that you can begin getting back in touch with the world around you again? Let’s take a look at some reasons why you can’t pay attention and how to change that...

While the average person has about 4,000 thoughts a day, there are only a few that are useful. The question then becomes how to filter out the useless ones? The answer is to have mindfulness. And by implementing the tools in this book, you will be able to achieve mental clarity, focus and a better quality of life.
